These next two announcements are important, so please take the time to read them.
CHANGE OF VENUE FOR COMMON GROUNDS THIS WEDNESDAY. Due to a wedding rehearsal dinner being held at the church that night, our Bible study will meet at my house at 6:30. The Perk will meet as usual at 9:30 Thursday morning at the church. Both studies are on Lesson 7 in Your Strong Suit, and it's not too late to join us. We'll only have one more lesson (next week) and then have a few weeks off before starting into our fall schedule.
OUR DAY AT THE BEACH (ROCKAWAY) IS THURSDAY, AUGUST 30TH. I realize I've been talking out of both sides of my mouth on this one, as I got myself confused as to the correct date. So go with this one--the 30th. This is your opportunity to bring your kids, your friends, your friends' kids, your kids' friends--any combination you want--to relax at the coast. This is a self-sustaining trip, meaning bring everything you need for your group--food, drinks, toys, towels, sunscreen, etc. We'll meet there at noon. Please let me know if you're going to come. Yes, this is right before the Labor Day weekend, but hopefully you can make it work.
Our exercise program, Holy Sweat, continues to meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8 AM at the church. We've had a great summer sweating together, and some of us are beginning to see some results, which is always encouraging! I don't know what our exercise schedule will look like once school starts back up, so take advantage of this now.
Thanks to those of you who have signed up to help work at the Cupcake Walk during the Summer Sizzle on August 19th. I still need more workers, so please let me know if you can help out for a half hour at a time. And if you've signed up to bring two dozen cupcakes or cookies, don't forget about them! A bunch of sugar-needy kids are counting on you!!
WOMEN OF FAITH is just a couple months away (October 5 & 6), which means it's nearly here! The group (10 or more women) rate this year is $91, which includes a $2 handling fee. Boxed lunches will be available for $10 (must be ordered at least two weeks ahead of time) or you can walk to a local eatery or grab something inside the Rose Garden. And then there's the cost of splitting a motel room four ways if you'd like to join a bunch of us and spend Friday night in the Portland area. So yes, it does all add up. Is it money well spent? I certainly think so! There's something incredible about gathering together with thousands of other women to praise God and learn how to better have our life reflect His will. This year's event is entitled Celebrate What Matters, and Sheila Walsh is the main speaker. Seating is completely different this year--not in the round--and there's a live band. Also ballet to some of the music. Friday evening and all day Saturday will be filled with humor, maybe a few tears, and the goodness of God. You don't want to miss it!! Please let me know if you plan on attending, even if you don't have the money for me yet. You can make checks out to Wapato Valley Church, but please hand them to me.
So, ladies, I think that's enough info to throw your way today. I hope you all have a wonderful week, and that a part of it involves attending some of our activities! Oh, and a great big shout-out to two of our ladies who will be changing their last names this week--beautiful brides Kristina and Kaitlyn!! We're sooo excited for both of you as you step into your new lives with your wonderful husbands!
