Retreat 2017 is now a thing of the past, but what a wonderful weekend we had! Forty-eight women gathered during a wild, windy, stormy weekend at Camp Wi-Ne-Ma. We had several women from other churches join us, but we all felt like family. A huge thanks to Joy of It for sharing such good teaching about living out our legacy. We were all challenged, I'm sure.
The Perk will meet this week on Thursday, from 9:30 to 11. If you're free in the morning, please join us as we look in the Bible to see how we can better deal with our attitudes. Childcare is available.
I hope you all join us at church this Sunday as we celebrate our risen Lord.

Ladies, as Paul Revere so famously yelled those many years ago, "Retreat is coming! Retreat is coming!" We will go by land to the sea April 7th-9th for a special weekend together. The ladies of The Joy of It team will lead us in Living Your Legacy. If you're looking for a stodgy, old ladies retreat, you'll need to look elsewhere. We know how to have fun!
This year we're meeting at Wi-Ne-Ma Christian Camp, about 16 miles north of Lincoln City (and 5 minutes north of Neskowin) right on the coast. You will love walking the beach and watching the waves roll in. The cost is only $90 and includes Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast and dinner, and Sunday breakfast. You'll have plenty of free time on Saturday afternoon to make a trip down to the outlet mall in Lincoln City, or just hang around and take a nap, play games, visit, take a hike, etc.
The time to register is NOW! I've got the forms with me at home, at Bible study, and at church, so fill one out, give me your money, and you'll be set. After you register I'll send an invitation to Signup Genius where you can select your room. (They are all basically alike, and we will need some people to sleep on a top bunk. You'll be able to make your bed as cozy as you'd like, as you'll need to provide your own bedding and towels. We should have a contest to see who can build the best nest! It most certainly doesn't have to be professional--a song, a dance, a skit, some good jokes, etc. This is just an opportunity to show off a side of you maybe some people don't know about.

We're currently looking at the truth that God is stronger than my overwhelming life. Amy B. is providing snacks this week, and we provide childcare for your little ones. Hi, ladies! I just want to clue you in on some different events that are being presented by your Women's Ministry Team, which is made up of myself, Viv, Carol G., Susan, Christine, Aimee, Debbie, and Natalie.
This Friday night at 7 is our Movie Night at Natalie's house (25970 SW Ridge View Dr. Hillsboro--off Albertson Rd. on Bald Peak). If you have a movie you'd like to see with the other ladies, bring it along and we can choose which one to watch. It doesn't have to be a Christian movie, but a decent one! Bring along a snack to share. If you need to check directions with Natalie, her number is 503-997-4880.
I'm glad so many of you have already signed up for our retreat with The Joy of It trio of speakers as they discuss Living Your Legacy. It's an amazing thing that we're able to have all three of them spend the weekend of April 7th-9th with us at Camp Wi-Ne-Ma. Cost is $90. Speaking of which, every year there are different women who would love to attend, and need to, but are in a very hard spot financially. One of my team members suggested we have a scholarship fund as a way we might provide some financial assistance. So if you would like to put in a little money toward that, just give it to me and I will set it aside. Perhaps you just want to add an extra $5 or $10 when you register. Or maybe you're not able to attend retreat, but you'd love for someone else to go. Whatever money we collect will go toward helping pay part of someone's registration.
This week at The Perk (Thursday at the church, from 9:30-11 AM) we'll be taking a closer look at Mary and Martha--two sistahs who looked at life differently. Join us for Bible study, discussion, prayer, and snacks (brought to us this week by Amy B.) Childcare is also available.

Ladies, I realize it's been over a month since I've last posted a WOW-Zine. Most of you know I had a health issue suddenly arise the end of January. Thanks to your prayers and the grace of God, that has resolved and I'm back to being as normal as I know how to be!
The really important thing to remind you about is our upcoming retreat at Wi-Ne-Ma Christian Camp April 7th-9th. This is a new venue for us this year, and the Women's Ministry Team is excited to have you join us. Our featured speaker(s) is the entire team of The Joy of It. These dynamic women will be speaking on Living Your Legacy. It doesn't matter what our age, we're all in the process of building a legacy. We'll be challenged as we spend the weekend with Julie,Laurie, and Joy. The cost is $90 and you can register at church or Bible study.

As I sit here writing to you, I'm in a short-sleeved shirt soaking in the sunlight streaming through the windows. How nice! I hope you're all able to get out and enjoy the weather this week.
It was really nice to have so many of you show up to The Perk last week, and we'll meet again this Thursday from 9:30 to 11. Natalie, I see you signed up for snacks this week--thanks! In our continued journey through Stronger: Finding Hope in Fragile Places, we'll be learning that God is stronger than our bad news. We should have a really good discussion as we address that topic through Bible passages and the sharing of our life experiences. You can join in our Bible study at any time, so don't let the fact that you haven't come before keep you away this week.
Love is in the air, as evidenced by the Wapato Valentine's event being held at 6 PM on Saturday, February 11th at the church. This is your opportunity to put on some dressy clothes if you'd like, and have a special night out on the town, which is often hard to do in Gaston! Cost is $15 per person for a fine dining experience catered by Troy and Thuy Wise. And if you need childcare, for only $3 a child they will have food and care provided next door in The Hub. Please get your tickets ahead of time. (Available Sunday from Cheri.)
Speaking of The Hub, remember that this Saturday from 9-12 we need everyone present to help move stuff from the annex to The Hub. How exciting!! Then on Saturday, Feb. 18th, we are having a rummage sale to raise money for the next phase of The Hub construction. On Sunday, Feb. 12th you may bring donated items to The Hub after church. Call Janet at 503-539-1518 to volunteer to help or for any questions you may have.
Our annual Women's Retreat will happen April 7th-9th at Camp Wi-Ne-Ma, which is just above Lincoln City over on the coast. Cost is $90 for the weekend, which covers all your meals except Saturday lunch. This spot is more rustic than what we had at the beach house, but we're able to have a lot more ladies here. Registration will open on Sunday, February 19th at church. Because we have more space (60 spots), registration will open to everyone at the same time. In order to register, you'll need to fill out a form and give me your $90 (checks made out to WVC and designated for women's retreat) and you're good to go! Another really nice thing about this place is that there's plenty of parking, so everyone could take their own car if needed! (But what's the fun in that?!) And we are right on the beach, so long walks are easy. In a couple of weeks I'll reveal our theme for the week, but remember I've already shared that the entire For the Joy of It team (Laurie, Joy, and Julie) will be our speakers. This is unheard of for them to do for a retreat, and we will be extremely blessed!

Is anyone else dealing with cabin fever? I can't wait for life to get back to normal!
THE PERK will be meeting Thursday morning from 9:30-11, the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise. (Sorry--a throwback to the Tennessee Ernie Ford show I watched as a child.) You will all need a break and an opportunity to get together with other women, so come join us.
Here's something fun you might like to do with some friends or family on this Friday night--there's a We Three concert being held at First Baptist Church in McMinnville (125 SE Cowls St.) at 7 PM. I've not seen any cost associated with it. This is the sibling group that the Rusaws had perform at their house last summer. They come highly recommended.
We received an invitation from the ladies of the Yamhill Christian Church to join them for a special event on Friday, February 10th from 7-9 PM and again on Saturday from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM for a time of spiritual refreshment. Devotional author and speaker Paula Moldenhauer, from Denver, Colorado, will be addressing the topic Freedom to Flourish. Another week, another snow storm! At least that's what is being predicted for this evening. What a strange winter we've been having this year.
We plan on having The Perk meet this week, (Thursday from 9:30 to 11) but if the weather is iffy make sure to check for any cancellation notice on our Women of Wapato Facebook page. If you're not on FB, give me a call or text if you're wondering if we're meeting. If you can't get hold of me (I have jury duty all month and don't know until the night before if I have to show up or not) call Carol G. at 503-680-5542. (She's my right-hand woman during this time.)
