Monday, June 13, 2011 WOW-Zine

Remember that old television commercial that asked the life-altering question "Where's the beef?" I think it's time to change that up a bit and ask "Where's the summer?" This weather is craziness, isn't it?! Good thing I've got Zumba to keep me warm, as I'm sure not feelin' it outside.

But no matter the temp outside, you'll find a warm welcome when you come to the first session of Loving Well this Wednesday night at 6:30 at the church. Those of us who made it to the Thursday morning session last week had a really wonderful time. There just seemed to be a special sweetness and openness in our time of sharing together. Remember, you don't have to have a copy of the book, or even have seen the video, in order to attend. If it makes you feel more prepared, here are some of the questions we'll take a look at:
~Do I love others better than I did five years ago?
~Am I growing in my ability to love others more openly with more vulnerability?
~Read I John 4:7-17 and write down everything it says about love.
~In what ways have you been hurt so that you tried to bind up your heart with duct tape?

This is a very casual study, so bring your own beverage, pull up a chair, and join the circle!

This coming Saturday is the Ice Cream Social, an opportunity for adults to play outdoor games, fellowship together, and enjoy sweet treats. The men's group is providing the ice cream, so just bring one of your favorite toppings along to Kent and Kathy Fordyce's for the all-you-can-eat-there's-always-Zumba-to-kick-your-you-know-what-tomorrow eating frenzy. This event is for adults only, so drop your kids off at the annex, where childcare will be provided from 6-8:30. Please bring a donation for the child care, as the money will go toward funding future youth events.

Next week we will meet Thursday at 10 AM for session two of Loving Well. Let me know if you would like to borrow the video series if you were unable to attend either of the retreats. I'd be glad to let people view them in preparation for the study.

I dropped the ball as far as interviewing anyone for this week's blog, but promise to have someone featured next week. So be sure to tune in and see who we'll get the inside scoop on! Last summer we got to know such notable women as Amy, Karen, Helen, Tami, Donna, Nathalie, and Chrissy. For a walk down memory lane, search the archives for the blogs of last June and July to read about these ladies.

By the way, I tried to leave comments about your comments last week, but for some reason my computer wouldn't let me! So even though you didn't hear back from me, please know that I LOVE it when you leave a comment or two, and read every one.

  1. When are you going to announce your new exercise club? I'm not sure if you should go with AshCRAFT Your Abs or Sherrie's Sassy Sweat Session or Just Walking the Driveway Will Get You in Shape.

Maybe the blog readers can vote? :D I'm sure each and every one will buy a monthly membership!

  4. Although I'm posting as Anonymous, that is not my real name! (It would be too hard to spell, for one thing!!) But my computer will not let me post as myself, so this is the best I can do.
Christina, my darling daughter, I loved all the names you came up with for my fitness club. I think the AshCRAFT Your Abs is my favorite one, but I like them all. But so far no one else is voting!
Kristin, this is the thing--you are the thing! It was fun visiting with you Sunday afternoon. Am continuing to pray for your health. And glad to hear you enjoyed Thursday morning so much!
Chrissy, yep, you're kinda slow this week! Since I was up early to do Zumba, I was able to write the blog earlier than usual. Can't you miss a game to come on Wednesday? Pretty please?? Yes, the questions are hard even for me, but definitely worth answering!
Sure hoping to see you tomorrow night, Amy.

  5. Thanks for the latest update, Kristin. Going through uncertain times like you are certainly makes you appreciate more than ever the nearness of God, and His complete understanding of what is going on inside of you. We all love you!

  6. Kristin, thank you SO MUCH for sharing your heart with us through these beautiful poems!! What a wonderful way to be able to express yourself. And it's another part of becoming more vulnerable as you open up your heart to the rest of us women. I really appreciate that!
