I'm wondering, if you were to make your own "I Have a Dream" speech, what would you say? What are your dreams? A fantastic marriage to a hunk? Beautiful children who obey at all times? No cellulite, spider veins, or extra pounds? Plenty of money for extravagant vacations? I think I know you gals better than that. You may want a few things along those lines, but I believe you're made of deeper stuff than that. I hope you're dreaming of a closer walk with Jesus, of having friends and being a friend who can be counted on, of growing in your ability to love others. There are ways to make those dreams come true. That's part of the purpose of women's ministries and why I'd love for you to join us as often as possible. We all need to dream big!
Speaking of big, our annual retreat will soon be here, held at a BIG new house in Lincoln City this year. You do not want to miss it! Today is the day registration opens to those who are not in the local area. But there are still four or five spots open for those of you involved at Wapato Valley Church or with Common Grounds. I've previewed the first session of the Beth Moore CD on Loving Well, and I can tell you we're in for a treat. She's a great communicator and fun to listen to. Plus God speaks through her. What a great BIG
combination! Remember, if finances are the only reason you're not able to attend, talk to me right away and we'll see what can be worked out.
Loving Well Retreat
March 4th-6th
Lincoln City

Lots of fun!
Another fun event coming up in just a few weeks is the Wapato Valentine's Dinner. This is the one opportunity a year we have for dressing up fancy, if so desired. The church is transformed into a beautiful, romantic dinner place, with a live band and dancing. All for the low cost of $20 per couple. Tickets will be going on sale in the near future, but write this one on your calendar for Saturday, February 12, in dark red lipstick now!
Common Grounds meets this Wednesday at 6:30. We'll have a delightful evening of conversation, dessert, and continued study of how to control what we allow in our soul closet. It's a very practical Bible study, which might even help you realize some of your dreams!

#1??? Just kidding! lol
ReplyDeleteSorry, I saw that you posted, and wanted to be the first one to comment. Okay, I'm satisfied, but only with that. In my dream closet their is TONS AND TONS AND TONS AND TONYS... whoops Freudian slip... of SUNSHINE. I'll take Sonshine too, does He come with Vitamin D?
ReplyDeleteI've been soaking up God's word. I was so hungry for spiritual food. It should come before physical food! I started a diet so working on getting into a size 4!!! That's in my dreams! XD
I'm working out in my home, doing what I can. My energy has a dramatic slump this time of year, so I'm gasping for fresh air.
Can't wait for January to be all done! I don't want to see it again until Twenty-Twelve!!! In other news, my house is in chaos, and my children are teeny tiny busy bodies... so I get angry because I'm stuck with a floor that I haven't seen in a couple of weeks, a desire to throw it all out, and I feel like someone has put me in a straight jacket and they're laughing. I am one messed up person. I dislike this very very much.
So if anyone wants to pray for me, I would really appreciate it!
Okay, I feel naked after that huge confession.
No condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. He doesn't want me to stay this way.
The voice of one crying out in the chaos, HELP!!!!!!!,
Nathalie
No, I pretty much want no cellulite and lots of money! ;oP
ReplyDeleteNathalie, I love getting rid of things! Sometimes it can be very freeing to box up and store or give away the extras our kids have so we CAN see the floor. For me, when my house is chaos, so is my mind and my soul. When everything is set right physically, I'm at peace and calm. Praying for you.
ReplyDeleteMy dream is to have ear-piercings I can actually use ... WAIT, my dream came true today!! lol
Nathalie, just remember that you're in a very challenging time of life with young kids at home. It should get better each year from here on out! So maybe January 2012 won't be as hard as January 2011. Or maybe Jesus will come back first!
ReplyDeleteChristina is right--having too much stuff is a hindrance in our life--mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Tossing out the un-needed things is really freeing. I think it's a good idea for moms of young kids to rotate though the toys, storing some and then trading them out a few months later. Less toys can often make for happier kids, and definitely for happier mothers!!
BTW, thanks for feeling free enough to make a naked confession on here. You'll be in my prayers, and I'm sure others will be praying for you too. We need to support each other at whatever stage of life we're in. And make sure to come to Common Grounds, so you can learn what you need to KEEP (in your soul closet.)
Love ya!
well, here I think I wont be the #1 commenter since no one really did one last week and I felt bad i was so over-competitive!! so glad Nathalie is just as winning oriented as me, even if no prize!!
ReplyDeletewell, I have a dream, to be skinny, size 4-6.. smaller, perky boobs!!! to not be afraid to share Jesus with all I see and come across.. to be determined to keep my goals and dreams in place and to make them public and to look at goals and dreams daily and breathe that belief into others too.. I just started the "breaking free" by beth moore, she is soo powerful!! >you will all see a new transformed, maybe quieter Chrissy this yr, so my dream in a nutshell is to be the Chrissy god intended me to be!!
>Nathalie, this is a hard season,so gloomy, dark, rainy and know you are not the only mom who goes through this, just start throwing things in garbage bags, drive down to goodwill and come home and throw up them feet, you will feel so great.. your chaotic life reflects in all other aspects of your life.. get the rap out!! God needs that space!! Will be praying!!
Since Debbie can't post from her Blackberry, here is what she wrote yesterday:
ReplyDeleteI'm dreaming Calgon take me away! No more on the closer walk with the lord!
Chrissy, you've got some really good dreams there! And some of them have great potential for coming true! I've never done the "Breaking Free" study, but have only heard good things about it. By the time we finish retreat, you'll be a Beth Moore groupie! I'm proud of you for starting the process of being transformed. It can be very scary, but oh, so worth it! (Not that we don't love you just the way you are!!)
ReplyDeleteNow it's your turn, Kristin! I'm so sorry you're having to deal with fear on a daily--I should say nightly--basis. That's not the life God has for you. And it's not the life you want to live. The Lord wants to use you to follow your heart of missions. You're going to need to take a long, truthful look at yourself and see the changes He wants to make.
ReplyDeleteThe Breaking Free study sounds like it might be very useful to you. Maybe we should start another study group in addition to Common Grounds, and go through it. I'd be glad to facilitate it if people were interested.
I hope people say they are interested on the breaking free!! I had goose bumps and was crying just listening to the intro!!! need to be dedicated and serious about change!! 5 days/week of 30-45 Min of homework!! but ohh so worth it!!
ReplyDelete> definitely be praying for you Kristin!!
