I'm sitting here with a mug of homemade mocha, just thinking how much more I would enjoy it if I were sipping it with you ladies! The way the weather is acting, I think we should rename this month Novemburrr! I'm not ready for cold weather yet, but guess I don't get a vote!
So how has your Monday been? I thought I'd be smart and get my Thanksgiving shopping out of the way this morning. About twenty-thousand other smart people joined me at the McMinnville Winco, which completely defeated the purpose! But my day was brightened by seeing Chrissy there. She made like a bunch of celery and stalked me! My question to you is, what is my excuse for getting this posted late afternoon this week? I've used up a couple good ones the last few weeks, and now I need your help. Please leave a comment letting me know of a good excuse to use. :-)
Most of you probably have your Thanksgiving Day menu planned by now. Pull out that piece of paper and let's go over it together, seeing if you've left anything out, okay?
Even if there is someone around your holiday table that acts like a real turkey, just offer extra grace to them. You should also think about stuffing yourself full of the Word of God before having to be around people like that. It's easy to relish those whom we naturally get along with, but some people seem to get themselves into a pickle without even trying. At times we hope they get their just desserts, even if that means we have to cream them. I hope your table is surrounded by people you love, and the rest is all gravy.
This coming Saturday, November 27, you are invited to show up at the church at 10 AM to help decorate it for Christmas. I suggest you stop by Scoggins first and pick up a mocha or some coffee and show up in the Christmas spirit. Holiday music will be playing to help put you in the mood. The beautifying of our church for the month of December is a special gift to our body, and your help is appreciated
Our next Common Grounds is December 1st. God is joining us at our meetings and we're having sweet times of fellowhip. Two weeks later will be our Common Grounds Christmas Party, and you don't want to miss it. In addition to our usually yummy snacks, we'll have a Christmas cookie exchange for those who would like to participate, and a white elephant gift exchange for all of us. If you've never participated in a white elephant exchange, you have a lot to look forward to. You just barely have time to get your passport and head to India or Africa to search for the rare white elephant. Then we all bring them to the church on December 15th and exchange them. It's very exciting! You know how people always say people don't talk about the elephant in the room?? Well, this is a time to prove them wrong! (And if you really don't know what a white elephant gift exchange is, I'll explain it for real next blog!)
Most of you probably know by now that our Keisha Long gave birth on Friday to beautiful little Lila. In pictures I've seen on Facebook, both Keisha and Travis look besotted by their little girl. Congratulations to the whole family!
And speaking of babies, I got word from Kim Turin last night that she and Tony are expecting their second! She's due July 3rd! We're happy for you guys!
I wish all of you a very blessed Thanksgiving. No matter what is going on in your life, you can still find many, many things for which to be thankful. I am so thankful for all of you!

Congratulations to both Keisha and Kim!! YAY for babies :)
ReplyDeleteohh my goodness. your fast Nicole!!! it is baby heaven around here!!! so exciting!!!
ReplyDeletewell Sherrie, if you weren't snuffing me i wouldn't have stalked you soo much!! I think her excuse for getting this out sooo late was all the time she spent in front of the mirror this am!!! boy ohh boy, how John let her out of the house looking as hott & fashionable as that I have no idea!!! and since it was raining so much you had to go to all the stores in Mac to get enough hair spray to keep that fresh Du in it's beautiful place!! So that is my ideas as to why you were so late ;0) Excited for the "white elephant" I have a few ideas ;0)ahhh haaa!!
You ARE fast, Nicole, but that's no slur on your character, which is impeccable!
ReplyDeleteChrissy, what exactly is "snuffing"? I might want to do it again sometime, but I need to know what it is first!! lol It only took one can of hairspray, but because of the rain I think my hair is all glued together. Alas, I may have to wash it! And your ideas for the white elephant? Well, they scare me!
I want whatever White Elephant gift Chrissy brings!!! Congrats to Kim and Tony. Pretty impressive considering they had to live apart for awhile. ;p
ReplyDeleteLila is gorgeous--and if it weren't for my itchy throat, I would SOOO have already seen that bit of sweetness.
Mom, you need to use that Thanksgiving bit as your status on facebook and let people steal it. You'll be famous!
I could be famous?? As if being the mother of the award-winning novelist Christina Berry isn't enough??!! Seriously, good idea about using that for my status. I'll post it tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteOk Sherrie I think your excuse this week is you spent to much time running from Chrissy cause she was like celery and stalked you :) That was such a cute saying! But honestly I think its because it comes from your heart and if its not ready to speak you wont be able to write! have a happy Thanksgiving and Hope you dont run out of hair spray!
ReplyDeleteAMy A
Amy, why didn't I think of blaming it all on Chrissy? That's always a good solution! I like what you said about if my heart isn't ready to speak I won't be able to write. That sounds very deep! And thank God for hair spray!
ReplyDeleteSherrie, you are a woman who needs no excuse! Ha- part answer, part kissing up!
ReplyDelete~Tami
Tami, there's no excuse for the kind of person I am!! Mmmwaaa!
ReplyDeleteFunny, blame it on me.. that is what the girls do at the Mk mtg too.. they were just talking about that tonight, somehow i get blamed for soo may things..Yes< amy, very deep there.. you and Tami are totally kissing booty!!! ;0)
ReplyDeleteAnd I am with Christina, I was thinking a diff Kim at church was prego!!! driving home tonight I went ummm...she said, Kim Turin???!! how does that work with hubby in like Texas??!! Guess it only takes one visit!! ;0) and umm.. speaking of that Christina you better be at least engaged to get my gift!!!!
Bahahahahaha! I don't want what Chrissy's bringing.
ReplyDeleteThose are all really good excuses, but we know that she can't REALLY tell us what she was ACTUALLY doing. It's okay Sherrie, your secret is safe with me.
I'm so excited for Thanksgiving and Christmas Shopping. I never seem to learn my lesson that Black Friday is a bad idea, but coffee, shopping, and without kids, how do I pass that up???
Really?!
Looking forward to that Christmas Party, but my hips say I should hold off on that cookie exchange. I have no self control.
Yay for Tony and Kim! I know they must be so excited!
I'm ready to see that LalalalalalalalalaLila!
Hope you are enjoying the little bit of snow. Wish I could make a snowman. Guess we'll be bundling up and building a Snowbaby! Another inch and we could spring for the whole man.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I, for one, am scared to go to any white elephant exchange that Chrissy is participating in! :o) Of course, as any of the Elders or Deacons from years past might remember, I have the best of all time. Somehow I ended up with it back! Not sure I should break that one out again...
