Tuesday, October 11, 2016 WOW-Zine

Good morning, my friends! I hope you're able to get out and enjoy one of the last beautiful days we have before the rains hit again.

There's not a whole lot other than the usual going on right now. We have The Perk meeting from 9:30 to 11 on Thursday mornings. I think we're all enjoying our study of Stronger: Finding Hope in Fragile Places. This week Natalie is providing something for us to snack on as we spend the morning together. Child care is available.

It was fun to spend time together at our Game Night last Friday. Thanks for hosting, Viv! Our next event will be a Movie Night on Friday, Nov. 4th, 7 p.m. at Karen's house. (1999 Phillips Rd., Gaston) As usual, bring a snack to share. You can even be super comfortable and wear your jammies!

If you weren't at The Perk last week you may not yet know that I announced who our speaker will be for our annual women's retreat April 7th-9th at Camp Wi-Ne-Ma over at the coast. Well, let me rephrase that. You may not yet know who our speakers will be. I'm so thrilled and excited to announce that the entire For the Joy of It team will be joining us for the weekend! This is an incredible gift to our church women, and an experience you won't want to miss! Some of you have heard the three ladies (Laurie, Joy, and Julie) speak at big events in the Portland area, and you already know what I'm talking about. These women are great friends with each other, and love to share God's Word in a very practical way. Start saving your $90 now, so you'll have it when registration opens in February.

I will be out of town on vacation with my parents next week, so don't look for a WOW-Zine. The Perk will still be meeting, under the capable leadership of some of the other ladies.

Until next time,

Friday, October 7th
624 S. Pine, Carlton
(Corner of Polk and Pine)
(Also known as Viv's house!)
7 p.m.
Bring a game and a snack

If you don't have a CLUE as to what you're doing this Friday night, why don't you take a PIECE of time to come join us for fun and games? LIFE is short and there's no MONOPOLY on having a good time. It might be a rainy night, but the roads shouldn't be DICEy. It's not TABOO to hop into your car with a few girlfriends, navigate a few TURNs, and BINGO!--you'll be in Carlton. If it's been raining a lot that day, you may want to sail in your YACHTzee instead of drive, but it won't take a MASTER MIND to decide your best mode of transport. You really don't want to stay home and be BOARD when you could be sharing sweet snacks such as CANDYLAND, or eating something healthy like APPLES TO APPLES instead. So take the RISK and SCRABBLE over to Viv's this Friday. Do your best not to ROLL the car or SPINout on your way. You don't want to wake up Saturday morning and exclaim, "Oh SHUTES AND LADDERS, I forgot to go!!" Then you'd be SORRY!

Okay, enough of that! We had a great start at The Perk last week and would love to have you join us this Thursday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church as we continue our study based on Stronger: Finding Hope in Fragile Places. Last week we discussed what it means to know God is omnipresent and immutable. Don't let the big words scare you off, as we discovered how practical and meaningful they really are. Childcare is provided, and Kristen will bring snacks to go with our tea and coffee.

Until next time,
