On a completely different note, I will be in Southern California for the next two weeks to help care for my youngest brother as he undergoes surgery for a very aggressive prostate cancer. He and his wife are strong believers and would appreciate all the prayer you'd like to give!

I will be here to lead our Bible studies this week, and others have volunteered to step in for the next couple of weeks. A big thank you to Janet, Carol G., and Natalie! I'm not sure if I'll be able to get a WOW-Zine out while I'm gone, so if you don't hear from me just remember that both studies are still meeting! This week Jaimie is bringing a treat for The Perk (Thursday from 9:30-11 AM) and Janet is taking care of goodies for Common Grounds (Thursday from 6:30-8 PM.)

Until next time,

Tuesday, October 13, 2015 WOW-Zine

A happy Tuesday morning to you! The fog we've started off the days with lately really remind me of one of the verses we looked at in Bible study last week. In Isaiah 44:22 God says, "I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist." Just like the morning fog burns off, disappears, and can be found no more, so God deals with our confessed sin. We can live in a guilt-free zone!

Coming soon, to a home theater near you, is our WOW Movie Night at Karen Fordyce's home. Not this week, but the following Friday, October 23rd at 7 PM. We'll be watching the new movie of Cinderella. We understand this is something your daughters would probably want to watch too, but this is a WOMENS' NIGHT IN! Instead of your daughter, bring a snack to share and if you want a soda, BYOD. (Bring Your Own Drink.) If you rearrange those letters you can spell BODY, which we also want you to bring!!

Don't forget to join us at one of our weekly women's Bible studies, which meet on Thursdays. The Perk gathers from 9:30 to 11 AM, and Nicole P. will bring a treat to go along with our coffee and tea. That evening from 6:30 to 8 Common Grounds will meet, and Jody is providing something to nibble on during our study. We'll be looking at more verses in Colossians chapter 1, beginning with verse 15.

I'd like to leave you with this devotional I found:

SIGNS OF CHANGE ~

Fall has arrived. The signs have been around us for days. The hydrangeas are fading. Already I'm sweeping up oak leaves on the patio.  Pumpkins and mums dominate displays in floral shops. Razorback red (my home team; name your own), candy corn and Halloween costumes are out in full force, beckoning us to buy.

Instead of four hummingbirds, now 20+ compete for a place at our feeders as they prepare for the long flight South. One morning soon we'll wake up and they will be gone.
I must confess at first I resisted the thought of fall. It's been too hot. Where did summer go? I'm not ready. But it doesn't matter whether I'm ready or not. The hummers will fly south, and fall will come as surely as the sun will rise and set each day.

I don't want to be left behind, so I'm coming round. I've pulled out a wreath of autumn leaves and a fat little pumpkin. So far I've resisted the candy corn, but it sure tastes good with cocktail peanuts.

I don't always recognize when God is bringing a change of season into my life, but He is patient. As evidence stacks up, I'm learning to embrace the freshness and excitement of something new.

What about you? Can you remember a time when you suddenly realized He was bringing change to your life?

Change can be scary because only He knows what new paths will open before us. I hope we will all accept changing seasons and concentrate on what is next instead of looking back with longing. Remember, our God is trustworthy, and isn't change part of what makes life with Him so exciting?

Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
Isaiah 43:19
